The Sad Story Of An Old Friend

This sad tale begins one snowy afternoon. We had gone sledding about a week after Christmas. Everything seemed beautiful and deceptively perfect. After almost two hours of joy and rapture we decided it was time to head home. We gather all the children and lost mittens and headed for the car.

David was taking pictures as we trudged through the snow when tragedy struck. The camera slipped from his fingers and dropped, lens first onto the frigid ground. A disturbing crunching sound echoed across the parking lot. I gasped as my camera took its last picture.

But out of dark sadness comes a glimmer of joy as I received my new camera last week. And although I will miss my old friend I look forward to the new adventures I will have and my new camera who will record them all.
