Our excitement for the week came on Wednesday when we found out that David had been selected to join a medical team to go on a medical mission (through a Chicago Catholic Diocese) to the Philippines. Only three students were selected and we are so excited that David is one of them. The best part is that out of the some 700 islands that make up the Philippines he is going to one of the islands he actually served his mission on! They will be going to the town of Borongan on the island of Samar. He leaves in February and he is gone for two weeks (almost 10 years to the day that David returned from his mission) most of the time is spent in the OR but they do get a day to go to the beach and a day to help at the local orphanage.

That is so exciting! I haven't yet met an RM who doesn't both dream of going back and know in his heart he'll never be able to afford it! I guess you'll have to sit back and be good about this one since you went to Europe last year, eh, Chan?
Take lot's of pictures Dave! I want to see some of what you see. That's so exciting.
That is awesome!!! we knew David was smart, but come on... That is uncanny that he will get to go back to the same island, how exciting and a big congrats...I have said it before and I will say it again, "we knew you when..."
It sounds like he will have an amazing trip. Too bad you can't join him!
Very cool! What a coincidence that it's back to his mission! I hope he has a great time -- how could he not?! Congrats David!
That's awesome! I found your blog through Jonathan and Cherie's, I'm glad you succumbed to the peer pressure... New York looks beautiful! I would love to go visit my birth state! Anyway, you can see my blog at cynthiagough.blogspot.com
What an amazing experience, both personally and for his professional record. That would be so exciting! Good job David.
