Camping

So David has been whining to go camping for months now and I finally relented. Which was good because it has reestablished my non-camping policy. You see our trip included everything about camping that I detest. Which I will now list (in no particular order).

-Camp grounds so full it would be more peaceful to camp in a city park.
-Obnoxious French Canadian kids who keep wandering into our campsite with their super-humanly loud remote control car. How do you say scram in french?
-Fellow campers who feel the need to play every song Phil Collins ever made...35 times.
-Bugs. Any variety.
-Accidentally setting up your tent with the rain fly underneath.
-Waking to the sound of distant thunder.
-Quickly throwing a tarp over the tent while listening to the not so distant thunder.
-Leaky air mattress.
-Trying to get dressed while sitting on a partially deflated air mattress.
-Packing up wet tents, wet chairs, and wet children

Well I could go on all day. But on the plus side we camped in a truly beautiful area called Letchworth State Park. It is supposed to be the "Grand Canyon of the East" which is a little bit of a stretch in my opinion, but it was very picturesque.

There was also this cool old inn and they were having a some sort of convention with all these beautiful old cars. They reminded me of "The Great Gatsby"

Ah, camping. There are reasons that we don't still live outside, eh? You took gorgeous pictures, Chan. Glad I wasn't there.

Okay so my heart is just slightly racing--I miss the East Coast at times and looking at your pictures has made NOW one of those times. What a beautiful area--Wow.
So it sucks to go camping when you don't like it, but afterwards you are able to make a hilarious blog list about why you shouldn't go and make my day just a bit cheerier from LOL. Thanks for the chuckle.

Chantel you know you love it -- you can't fool me! It sounds so fun maybe I'll do it this weekend! How did Charlotte do? I bet the other girls had a great time. It's good of you to sacrifice for the good of the whole! :)

Your posts always make me laugh! I love the list!

you make me laugh so much, I am glad I am not the only one with a no-camping rule...but the pictures were great, it is really beautiful out there. And I agree, that is right out of Great Gatsby.
Glad you survived a night out in the wild, even if you were inundated with French Canadians :)

You are so funny. I love your list! I like camping but I have to admit the rain does me in... I can't take WET and camping together.

That place does look gorgeous, I have to admit.

How can you hate camping?!?! :) Especially when you are in such a gorgeous place?!?!

I'll bet the girls had a great time and I'll bet David had a great time,...perhaps even more of a great time b/c you hate it so much. :) He was probably secretly chuckling to himself a lot!
I miss you. Move back.
