SAVE OUR MARRIAGE!

David and I have been watching "The Marriage Ref" and having a great laugh at others' expense. Because let's face it, other people's problems are so much more entertaining than your own. So today we were driving down the road and discussing a car we are thinking about buying for David's commute. The conversation led to an old unsettled argument about the color of our car. One of us thinks our minivan is dark gray and one of us thinks its blue. David doesn't want me to tell you which. So I am leaving it up to my friends out there in blogging land. Please settle this 4 year old argument for us. Vote now.

aaron & I both said
"I thought it was bluish-grey!"

Cord says that showing the pic online to have people determine its color won't be accurate -- everyone's monitors are calibrated differently and will show the image/color/hue differently . . .

He also says that David is a weirdo . . .

From what Cord just posted you can see that we often have arguments about color. So... I side with you Chantel. Whatever color you say it is that's the correct answer.

The official tally after Day 1

Blue:
Aaron
Kristin

Gray:
Amy
Eliza

I can't tell you which color Heidi voted for yet. After three days we'll declare an official winner and an official LOSER (my favorite part).

P.S. Cord, you don't need Pantone swatches or calibrated screens to know the color here. It should be intuitively obvious to a feeble-minded simpleton such as yourself. So man up and vote fool.

Love,
David

The show is hilarious.

Okay so yes it is not your traditional crayon blue but it is blue. okay I change my mind, blue with a hint of gray! Josh is just color blind. Ha!

This entire concept is so funny that I can't even vote. I'm still laughing ...at your expense. Oh.....how I miss you two.

P.S. Cord makes me laugh.

Is this the car you bought while you were still here? If so, I believe it is gray, but I will say that it looks like it has some blue in the gray. So, you are both right. Kiss and make up. That's the best part anyway. :)

P.S. I really hope you are the gray one Chantel!

We have a car the same color and I call it blue-gray... so I don't think I helped the vote. It's really NEITHER ONE... so you both lose! Bwaaaahahahaha!

Heidi votes for Chantel whatever the color (Heidi, you're dead to me). Cord, if you ever loved me you'll vote... and for the right color. Tomorrow is the day of reckoning (3/18). We will tally all votes at midnight and end the insanity forever.

Sincerely,
David

I think it's gray-blue, but I asked Mason and to the eyes of a 4 year old it looks gray.

It's not yet midnight here in Tucson. From my memory, I say it's blue. Karolee remembered it being gray. We are not basing our vote on the picture; couldn't you have taken a better one?

Josh said...

Chantel, the color is gray. That's right, G-R-A-Y. Gray. Gray, gray, gray. Hope this helps. lol :)

We are at my parents house and so extended the official vote until tonight (3/19) until midnight.

The precise definition of gray according to The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language is: "An achromatic color of any lightness between the extremes of black and white"

The common element in any official and unambiguous definition of gray (including the one above) is that the color gray lacks "color", hue, or chroma.

To the trained eye, the paint in this car obviously has some hue and that color is obviously blue.

To illustrate my point that the car is blue I've prepared a image, available at the URL below, with side by side comparisons of the original image, an image of what the car would look like if it were gray, an image with the hue modified to green, and an image of the original with increased saturation.

http://www.thereadystore.com/media/bluevsgray.jpg

Bottom line? The car is blue, and for anyone who says it is gray, there is only three possible explanations: (1)he/she doesn't understand or accept the definition of gray as it pertains to color, (2)he/she simply does not have a finely trained eye (3) he is married to someone who thinks it is blue and he is just an arrogant cuss who amuses himself through getting other people upset by trying to prove them wrong regarding issues of an ambiguous nature that are by nature not easily resolved.

I think that explanation (3) applies here.

All I want to know is if he/she is really going to accept the verdict of this vote. :D

Love you guys! :D

The official vote is 10 votes for blue against 9 votes for gray. Our van is blue and Chantel wins.

I will humbly submit to defeat and forever recognize the van's color as blue. Yes, the Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan is wrong, color blind. And despite declarations of color on official documentation from three states of the union, the van's color is blue not gray. So I will drop it. Chantel wins.

Thank you all for helping settle this argument (especially you, Heidi).

David

Josh said...

Janna's vote was a sympathy vote, so it doesn't count. And besides, don't the three states and Toyota count as votes?

Chantel's not suppose to win. You should have had the vote at our house because she doesn't win here! Ha ha ha.
Final score:
David 13
Chantel 9

That's more like it. :)
