"That was Totally Wicked"

This weekend my sister and niece flew down for Wicked. We had an amazing time. This was my very first Broadway play. Everything was absolutely fabulous. The costumes and sets were beyond belief and the singing and acting were perfect. Thanks David for sending Tabitha and I we had the best time.

The next day we hopped the train to Santa Fe and had some great New Mexican food at Tia Sofia's and looked at the shops.

Charlotte kept us all entertained while we waited for the train home.

They didn't get Jimmered?

A friend of ours gave us free tickets to the BYU vs UNM Basketball game. It was David's dream come true. And let me tell you my ears are still ringing. Everything you have heard about the pit is true. Sadly BYU could not fend of those ravenous wolfs and lost.

When we got home Charlotte came down the steps just in time to hear David say BYU had lost and she said in total shock and disbelief "They didn't get Jimmered?". I think David has been talking about Jimmer Fredette a little too much.

"One of these things is not like the others."

One Enchanting Year.

It is hard to believe but we have officially been in New Mexico for a year. This year has just flown by. It seems like only yesterday we were flying out of Buffalo with Charlotte shouting happily "Bye Bye Buffalo". We celebrated our one year anniversary in the land of enchantment with a trip to our favorite Chinese restaurant.

Although we have been here an entire year the honeymoon still isn't over. I love New Mexico. I was thinking recently about how much I love living here and considering the difference between our time in Buffalo and our time so far here. And I remember celebrating that we only had a year and a half left in Buffalo and not celebrating that we had been there a year. It makes me wonder, if my attitude had been different if our time there would have been different. Because as much as I romanticize New Mexico there are some very negative things about living here. But we have only been looking for the beauty and that's what we have found.

Alright enough philosophizing for now.

I just read this article in Salon.com "Why I Can't Stop Reading Mormon Housewife Blogs" . It gave me a well needed laugh for the morning. I guess we all need to keep blogging for those "over-educated feminist atheist" women out there. So keep it up ladies.

New Years 2011

For my Christmas present David took me to Denver for New Years. Don't look for the kids in the pictures because they weren't there. David's parents were kind enough to take them. It was awesome.

We went to the Denver Art Museum to see the King Tut exhibit. It was so much fun.

We stayed in a fabulous hotel David scored for us on Priceline. David is a Priceline wizard.

We found this really cute Indian restaurant. The booths had curtains and a dozens of pillows which you had to sit on cross legged. The food was great and with the Sitar player strumming softly in the corner the atmosphere was perfect. One of the best Christmas presents ever.

Christmas 2010

So much to our surprise, you can actually dream of a white Christmas here in New Mexico. OK so it snowed a week before Christmas and then it all melted away within 2 days. Which, in my opinion is the best kind of snow. It stayed just long enough for school to be canceled, the kids to play in it, and me to sit by the Christmas tree watching it fall through the window.

David's parents spent Christmas with us which was wonderful. Christmas Eve we did a nativity play. But since we were a little short on boys we all had a part. It was very...unique.

E.V. loved opening presents but the stockings were by far her favorite.

Is E.V. just full of holiday joy? No, she's just full of candy canes that she stole off the tree. She then proceeded to hide behind the table and eat them.
